How to Setup Your Advertising Account at Facebook for Affiliate Marketing
In a previous post on this blog, the stunning statistics of the massive
size of Facebook's 350 million users and 39 BILLION page views a month
were presented and this is what is driving the huge interest by
Affiliate Marketers in using the advertising capabilities of Facebook.
As most sophisticated marketers know by now, performance advertising on Facebook
is significantly different from search engine marketing. In performance
ads you target people, it's not just copy and paste from your Google
AdWords campaign.
As more advertisers and marketers shift more of their attention and
budget to Facebook's performance advertising system, it's crucial to
understand how to setup your advertising account at Facebook.
Below are several simple steps with some tips to setup your Advertising Account at Facebook.
1. Login to your Facebook account.
2. Go to facebook forward slash ads
3. Your first time you may have to sign up for an account
4. Set up a credit card on the billing tab
5. Click Create ad
Ad Creation Tips: The landing page should not be an optin in page.
Facebook like sales pages but not optin pages. Send people to a sales
video, most people are on Facebook for entertainment, so market to that
mindset.
When creating your ads be sure to use the FAB formula (Feature,
Advantage, Benefit). In the headline ask a question the has a "Yes"
answer. Like "Are you on Facebook?" don't use this but you get the point
- right. Next you state the benefit "High school teacher turned his
free time on facebook into a cash machine. Find out how..." don't use
this but you get the point - right. Lastly, your image should show the
advantage of the benefit, for this example I would find a picture of a
guy laid back at the beach. Go to clipart or istockphoto to get your
royalty free images.
Tageting Tips: First, use targeting. I'm amazed how many marketers do
not use any targeting. By using targeting you can save a boat load of
money and focus solely on the ads that are getting you the most amount
of sales.
Secondly, use more then one targeting method. Just because they are
listed separately above does not mean they can't be combined. You should
combined targeting to create very targeted ads.
Which is better Per click vs Pay per thousand? If your are starting a
new campaign in Facebook Ads that has not been tested before, I would
start in pay per click. Run a few hundred clicks and see if you are
getting sales or optins. If so you can then estimate how many sales per
hundred visitors you can accept. If you determine the campaign to be
profitable, you then switch to CPM or cost per thousand which will give
you a lot more traffic. Be sure to watch your conversion and cost per
click for the first few days.
